Welcome to The Smoking Gun RSS feed. If you know about RSS, skip down to "How Do I Start?," copy the link to our feed into your reader, and be on your way. For the rest of you, read on. WHAT IS RSS? - RSS (Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication) is a way of delivering brief summaries of regularly changing news stories to your computer. RSS allows you to periodically retrieve the latest content from your favorite web sites, displaying it in a neatly formatted fashion on your screen. You'll be able to quickly find out about new TSG stories before having to actually visit our site.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO READ AN RSS FEED? - You'll need software (commonly referred to as a feed reader or news aggregator) that allows you to grab the RSS feeds you want. There are dozens of companies that distribute readers, any of which will allow you to read our feed. A Google search will turn up many excellent readers, for example, we use NetNewsWire Lite on our Mac "Jaguar" OS machine. Additionally, both Yahoo and Google have incorporated easy-to-use RSS readers into their respective user "home" pages. You can add TSG to your "My Yahoo" page, for instance, by clicking this box: HOW DO I START? - Once you've downloaded your software and installed it on your computer, copy the following link to our RSS feed into the appropriate place in your reader: http://rss.thesmokinggun.com/rss.aspNEED MORE INFORMATION? - There's tons of information about RSS feeds and readers online. Here's a good place to start. |
